In Spanish there are some words that have their own gender, they can be masculine or femenine. Depending on the word you are using you would have to utilize either el, la(s), lo(s), eso(s), esa(s). Here I am going to give you some examples:
Masculine Words
Singular:
- El carro (the car)
- El camion (the truck)
- El atardecer (the dawn)
- El sofa (the couch)
- El patio (the patio)
- El hombre (the man)
- El avion (the plane)
- El banco (the bank)
- El garage (the garage)
- El sitio web (the website)
- El papel (the paper)
- El rio (the river)
- El zologico (the zoo)
- El televisor (the television)
- El caracter (the character)
- El ventilador (the fan)
- El zapato (the shoe)
- El arbol (the tree)
As a rule, for masculine singular words you always use "El", and for plural you always use "Los" in fron of the word and also add an "s" at the end of the word.
Femenine Words
Singular
- La camara (the camera)
- La cortina (the curtain)
- La mujer (the woman)
- La computadora (the computer)
- La camisa (the shirt)
- La mano (the hand)
- La espalda (the back)
- La rodilla (the knee)
- La pierna (the leg)
- La cabeza (the head)
- La vena (the vein)
- La taza (the cup)
- La cafetera (the coffee maker)
- La cocina (the kitchen)
- La lavadora (the washer)
- La secadora (the dryer)
- La nevera (the refrigerator)
- La manguera(the hose)
- La casa (the house)
- La lampara (the lamp)
- La trompeta (the trumpet)
- La comida (the food)
As a rule, for femenine singular words as the ones above you always use "La", and for plural you always use "Las" in fron of the word and also add an "s" at the end of the word.
So here you have it, this is just a little taste of masculine and femenine Spanish words.

Henry-
I tried send you a response to your comment on my blog (LindyShoots) but the email bounced back. Figured I'd give it a try this way.
Keeping it short, thanks for the comment on the blog, and I'd love any help with the Spanish you're willing to give.
Thanks!
Lindy
