Learning Spanish can be dramatically improved if you follow certain rules. Below I would like to share with you some tips on how to direct your attention to few tricks that can help you improve your Spanish learning skills.

1. Listen and Repeat as you Listened

It sounds a little basic, but most people forget this very simple trick. Normally, most of us when learning a new language, instead of repeating the word we just heard as we heard it, we ask: but, how do you spell that? Generally this is the first mistake, instead just trying to repeat that word you just heard as you heard it, it’s like trying to mimic exactly what you heard. Try to mimic the tone, inflections, accents, etc- this is what’s going to give you that edge to a much better pronunciation.

2. Forget About the Grammar

Well just for a little bit anyway! What I mean by this is that even as infants we learn how to talk by just listening, watching and repeating. So don’t worry about learning grammar at first, learn the natural way- like babies- listen, watch, associate and repeat, repeat and repeat.

3. Find a Spanish Buddy/Coach to Help You

Find yourself a Spanish buddy/coach willing to take you by his or her hand and teach you like a baby, not only you will learn the right pronunciation, but also the cultural aspect of it. Remember that is not only about the language per say, but also everything else that comes along with it.

4. Immerse Yourself into the Language

Watch movies, read magazines, listen to radio, listen to music, etc. You can also join a Spanish conversational club online, locally or why not both- even better. The more exposition you get to the language the faster and the better you will learn. Listen to people talk, try to listen to different accents- remember that in the Spanish language you can also find a big variety of accents, people from Central and South America have different accents and customs within them- and of course Spain, the mother of the Spanish language- they definitely have a totally different accent than any other Spanish speaking country in the world.

5. Practice, Practice and More Practice

After you have applied the first four above explained steps- it’s time to practice, practice and practice.

Oh my gosh, this is wonderful! What a great site! Wish I'd had this available when I first learned Spanish (Mexico City, 1973). I'll bookmark this site and list it on my blog and consult it often. Unfortunately, I've forgotten much of my Spanish (my wife is Japanese, wich is a major clue), and here in Japan, there is no place to practice it).

Whee!
